Privacy Policy
This page is maintained by Kang Workspace to explain how we collect, use, store, and protect your information. It is written for our community of teams and businesses operating in Cameroon and across Africa. Last updated 22 June 2026.
Who we are
Kang Workspace is an all-in-one collaboration platform operated by Kang Open Banking. Our service is built to support teams, small and medium enterprises, cooperatives, and organizations working in Cameroon — including bilingual (French and English) workspaces across all ten regions — as well as customers elsewhere in Africa and beyond.
For any privacy question you can reach our data protection contact at privacy@kangopenbanking.com.
Legal framework we follow
For users and workspaces in Cameroon, we handle personal data in line with applicable Cameroonian law, including Law No. 2010/012 of 21 December 2010 relating to cybersecurity and cybercrime, Law No. 2010/013 governing electronic communications, and the consumer protection framework under Law No. 2011/012. Where electronic financial services and mobile money are involved, we also align with the regulations of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) and the CEMAC region, and the supervisory guidance issued by the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (ANTIC).
Where we serve customers in other jurisdictions, we apply comparable safeguards and, where relevant, internationally recognized standards for data protection.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account information. Your name, email address, phone number (including Cameroon mobile numbers used for SMS and mobile money), preferred language, and password credentials when you create an account.
Workspace content. The files, notes, tasks, boards, canvases, and chat messages you and your team add to your workspaces.
Billing and payment information. When you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect the details needed to process payment through our providers — for example mobile money identifiers (MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money) for XAF transactions, card details processed by Stripe, and bank or wallet references processed through the Kang Open Banking API. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers; these are handled by our payment processors.
Usage and device data. Log data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and how you interact with the service, used to keep the platform secure and reliable.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and operate the service, process subscription payments in your local currency, keep your account and workspaces secure, prevent fraud, provide customer support, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, and communicate important updates. We do not sell your personal data.
Payments and financial data
Payments are processed by trusted third parties depending on your currency and chosen method. For Cameroon and XAF, mobile money payments (MTN and Orange) and bank/wallet transfers via the Kang Open Banking API are supported; card payments are processed by Stripe; and multi-currency payments across other African countries are processed by Flutterwave. Each provider handles your payment credentials under its own security standards, and we only receive the confirmation and reference data needed to activate your plan.
Data storage, transfers and residency
Workspace data is stored on secure, access-controlled infrastructure with encryption in transit. Some processing may take place outside Cameroon through our service providers; in those cases we take steps to ensure your data continues to receive an appropriate level of protection. Where required by Cameroonian law for certain categories of data, we work to keep relevant records accessible to the competent local authorities.
How long we keep data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. After account closure we retain limited records where necessary to meet legal, accounting, tax, or regulatory obligations, after which the data is deleted or anonymized.
Your rights and choices
You can access, update, export, or delete your account data at any time from your account settings, subject to legal retention requirements. You may also object to or restrict certain processing and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any right, contact privacy@kangopenbanking.com and we will respond within a reasonable period consistent with applicable law.
Security
We use role-based access controls, encrypted connections, and continuous monitoring to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we encourage strong passwords and careful management of who you invite to your workspaces.
Children
Kang Workspace is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to children under the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time and will post the revised version here with a new effective date. For any privacy request or complaint, contact us at privacy@kangopenbanking.com.
